FIA PRESIDENT AND RACC PRESIDENT MEET WITH CATALAN MINISTER ROGER TORRENT

The President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Mohammed ben Sulayem, and RACC President Josep Mateu, met this morning with the Minister for Business and Labour of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Roger Torrent, and the Secretary for Business and Competitiveness, Albert Castellanos, at the Palau de Pedralbes, on the occasion of the F1 Pirelli Gran Premio de España, which will be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from today, Friday, until Sunday.

Minister Torrent, who is also President of the Circuit, received the FIA President and the RACC President on behalf of the Government of Catalonia. This is the first time that Mohammed ben Sulayem has officially visited the Grand Prix in our country as President of the FIA, a post to which he was elected in December 2021.

The RACC has been a full member of the FIA since 1997. It is directly involved in the sporting activity, as organiser of the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada-Rally de España, a scoring round towards the World Rally Championship, and as organiser of the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Circuit, as well as being actively involved in the FIA’s mobility projects by promoting studies and campaigns to encourage safe and sustainable mobility.

FIA University

The President of the FIA and the President of the RACC also met with the FIA University Emerging Leaders Programme participants. The programme is a week-long course held at ESADE Business School aimed at high-potential managers of automobile and mobility clubs worldwide to share knowledge and best practices. This year, thirty participants took part in the eleventh edition of the programme, which since its inception has attracted more than 200 participants.
