FIA LAUNCHES INTEGRATED SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TENDER FOR THE FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP HYBRID ERA

For the first time ever, applicants are invited to bid for three specific lots in relation to the supply of sustainable energy for the FIA World Rally Championship from 2022 to 2024.

The FIA and WRC Promoter have agreed on key requirements for the initiative. Taking into consideration the rapidly changing landscape of sustainable and alternative fuels, the intention of the FIA is to use this opportunity to work with prospective tenderers to highlight the wide range of options that are available in this fast-moving field.

The new-generation 2022 Rally1 specification cars will embrace the hybrid era, by incorporating cutting-edge technology to make them more efficient and greener than ever before.

Consistent with the brief above, the tender invitation features the three following pillars:

1. Sustainable fuel, with the supplier producing and delivering a fuel or a series of fuels that can be used by competitors across the different classes in the championship.

2. Branding of the plug-in hybrid charging stations.

3. Sustainable energy generation and supply to cover the needs of the plug-in charging elements of the Rally1 cars and the general power requirements in the service park.

Interested parties can apply to supply one or more of the above lots. Potential bidders interested in tendering for all three lots will have the opportunity to be named as the ‘Official Energy Partner’ of the WRC, gaining access to the WRC eco-system to highlight the multi-level solutions being developed to reduce global emissions.
