Young Indian karting talent Aarav Sureka made an impressive start to his 2026 Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) India National Karting Championship campaign by securing a hard-fought third-place finish in the highly competitive Micro Category at the opening round held at the CoASTT High Performance Centre in Coimbatore.

Despite facing challenges with the kart setup during qualifying, Aarav demonstrated resilience, maturity, and exceptional racecraft throughout the weekend to secure a well-deserved podium finish in the championship opener.

The weekend began with a difficult qualifying session on Saturday, where Aarav struggled to extract the maximum performance from his kart setup and qualified in fifth position. Undeterred, the young racer delivered a composed and mature performance in Heat 1, maintaining strong pace and race management to finish fourth.

In Heat 2, Aarav once again showcased consistency with another incident-free drive to secure fourth place, earning himself a second-row starting position for Sunday’s crucial Pre-Final race.

The Pre-Final proved to be one of the most dramatic races of the weekend for Aarav. Starting from the third row, he made an excellent launch and surged into second place within the opening two laps. However, contact from other competitors disrupted his momentum, forcing him to settle for fifth place despite displaying impressive speed and determination.

Heading into the Final, Aarav faced a make-or-break challenge starting from fifth position. Rising to the occasion, he produced one of his finest drives of the weekend, executing several bold overtaking manoeuvres during the opening laps before delivering a masterclass in defensive driving during the closing stages of the race. His outstanding performance secured a brilliant third-place finish, earning his first podium of the 2026 national season.

Reflecting on the opening round, Aarav and his team can take great confidence from a weekend that showcased not only pace but also resilience, racecraft, and determination under pressure.
