The final four 11-13 year old FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars Junior drivers have now completed their closing Karting Scouting Camp at the Maranello headquarters of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) and at the Autodromo di Franciacorta race track.
After more days of intense on and off-track assessments, the youngsters now return home and await the forthcoming outcome, that will see the FDA engineers and team of experts analyse performance across a wide variety of mental, physical and media workshops, as well as on-track progression in the Tony Kart machinery. At the end of the deliberations, the FDA will decide if one of the young drivers is deserving of its support for an international karting season.
The Junior category of FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars was launched this year as an extension to the original four-year programme, which potentially takes 14-16 year old female racers from karting into single-seater competition and Formula 4 racing with the Iron Dames, a main partner of the project.
With the further backing of the FDA, Girls on Track – Rising Stars can now fully support even younger racers – as young as 11 years old – with this Junior development initiative which will potentially put one of the youngsters under the wing of the famed Academy as they embark on a season of international karting. As an innovate talent detection programme designed to nurture female talent between the ages of 11 and 16 years, the winning kart racer will also have the possibility to join the Senior category of FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars when she reaches the age permitted to race in Formula 4.
