Norbert Kiss dominated the opening round of the 2024 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship season held at Italy’s Misano circuit last weekend, winning all four races staged as part of the event and comfortably settling into top spot in the series’ standings
The Hungarian five-time reigning series champion kicked off his campaign by clinching pole position, which he later converted to a victory in a rain-affected season-opening race. Kiss remained unbeaten for the remainder of the weekend, clinching yet another pole on Sunday and three further race wins, including two semi-reversed grid races, where he had to make his way through the field.
Kiss’ dominant display meant that he accumulated 60 points out of 60 possible and now sits 15 points ahead of his closest opponent, Jochen Hahn, the second-best driver of the weekend who finished second three times. 10 points down on Hahn are Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete, who are equal on points, rounding out the top three before the second round of the eight-event season scheduled from 8 June at the Slovakia Ring.
In the new-for-2024 Chrome classification, Steffen Faas leads the standings with 51 points to his name. Second is José Eduardo Rodrigues, who has Faas within striking distance, only six points down on the German.
