STAGE SET FOR JORDAN RALLY SHOWDOWN AS EVENT GETS UNDERWAY AT THE DEAD SEA

 On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the Jordanian Board of Directors of Motor Sports, Engineer Amer Al-Bashir, his deputy, gave the start signal for the Jordan Rally – the second round of the Middle East Rally Championship (FIA – Merc) from the rally pit area. This evening, Thursday, with the participation of 24 drivers (16 of them in the Middle Jordan Rally and 8 in the Second National Rally) from 9 countries, they will compete in 15 special and difficult stages in the Dead Sea region during the next two days to determine the identity of the winner of the second round of the Middle East Championship. The rally is being held with the support of Zain Jordan, Guaranti Travel and Tourism Group, Hala and Bliss FM.

The start of the rally was preceded by a press conference this evening with the participation of Qatari drivers Nasser Al-Attiyah, Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, Khaled Al-Suwaidi, and the Omani driver, Abdullah Al-Rawahi. ‎ ‎ And the Jordanian drivers are Sheikh Badr Al-Fayez, Shaker Jweihan, Hossam Salem, and Shadi Shaaban.

The Mount Nebo region will host the opening panorama and research stages on Friday morning, before the competitors return to the Dead Sea region to complete the loop by passing through the bathing site, and then start the 3.3 km long demonstration stage in the Dead Sea, which gives the public the opportunity to enjoy the course of the rally. The competitions conclude at 16:35

Saturday’s race features a competitive distance of 109.42 km and consists of two tracks across each of the stages of Al-Shouna, Al-Rawda, Al-Turki and Al-Sowayma. Al-Shouna is the longest in the entire event with a distance of 20.93 km. The rally concludes at Al-Saada at 6 p.m., and the press conference will be held after the event at 6:30 p.m.

Among the most prominent participants nominated to compete for the Omani Rally title is Abdullah Al Rawahi, winner of the championship ‎ ‎ Middle East Rally Championship last year, 19-time regional champion, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah. ‎

Al Rawahi said: “We have finished reconnaissance of the rally stages. They are amazing and difficult stages. We tested the rally car a few days ago to make sure that everything is fine.
